Wednesday, December 17, 2008 Trenton Sun Page 4B - Local by Dave Lihs Eighteen members of Trenton's Boy Scout Troop 39 experienced a trip that most will never forget this past summer. They traveled by vans to the Boundary Waters Canoe Area, which is located north of Lake Su- perior and Grand Marais, Minnesota to enjoy five days and 50 miles of canoeing along the Canadian border. The group was divided into two separate crews, each outfitted with plenty of food and equipment, fish- ing poles, compass and map. Travelling as separate crews in a Wilderness Area meant complete isolation from one another until meeting back at the Outfitter five days later. Numerous firsts were ex- perienced by both groups... plenty of loon and bald ea- gle sightings, a sampling of fresh fish to eat, canoeing within 20 yards of a moose, beautiful scenery, majestic waterfalls and rapids, short and long portages and a little rain mixed in for good measure. This trip was a joy for the adults involved. We saw the kids work together as a group and even having fun doing it in spite of all the physical demands and long $4.s0 ALL EVENING SHOWS 7 Only $3.00 All Shows Before 6pro ENDS THURS QUANTUM OF SOLACE | 7:00 PG-13J HELD OVER TWILIGHT Daily thru Tues 6:40 Fri/Sat Late 9:30 PG43 Sat/Sun Mat 2:00 Wed 4:00 Only GIFT CERTIFICATES J ~ Movie Honey available in I,J g~_.~llll,,1B~ $5 increments at box office r'N i ~ ~ or | STARTS FRI YES MAN Daily thru Tues 7:00 Fri/Sat Late 9:40 Sat/Sun Mat 2:20 Wed 4:15 Only PG-13 days on the water. Scout- ing really does develop and prepare kids to be leaders of the next generation. Scout- ing families and those indi- viduals who support Scouts should be very proud of these boys. We thank everyone for continuing to support of our recycling program since the majority of the funds need- ed for this trip was paid for through this program. m im B B~ ~mBm, r M ~ BmIIBL IBB n m m m~mm ml m mm m~mmu rmkbM Slreet - Nm 13,de..
